ArcGIS Viewshed Analysis Help, count of cells seems larger than original DEM cells

I'm running viewshed analysis and when I open up the attribute table of the viewshed, the counts of cells are much higher than the original DEM size. Am I reading this wrong? I need to calculate the area after running viewshed (what area is visible, what area is not). This is the reason I'm asking. Thank you.
