Ways of editing Postgis tables from remote desktops (WFS?)

I've got like 500 postgis tables and i would like to serve then as WMS and especially as WFS to be able to edit that info. To do so i read that the easiest way is Mapserver + TinyOWS. Mapserver works with .map files so i need to generate the map files form postgis tables.

I am also testing geoserver. But i am getting a Provider errors: empty response whenever I try to edit the layer.

Which would be the easiest way to make a fully working WMS + WFS service?
