Outlining multiple KML objects

I have a KML file (generated from Census data) that outlines several contiguous counties. How do I go about getting KML data to draw a border outlining the combined area of the counties instead. My intention is to draw a path or polygon in Google Maps around the area encompassing those counties as demonstrated by the red line in the image below.
